Flex ability plays a big part when trying to move up the ladder. Showing the willingness to throw away the personal agenda and swallow your own pride for the greater good of the company. Being a great team player and being there when it matters is big as well. This shows that you are a mature persone and can handle anything that comes your way These are quality's that people will notice and admire

That is true, like the old saying goes business never personal. You cannot have feelings that you have at home brought in the business world. The mix is not a good blend and will cause a nasty milkshake. However, if you manage to keep the two seperate and show people at work and at home that you can handle the emotions and feelings, you will make out great.
