Setting up for Failure

In the Business world you cannot be successful if you don’t know where you want to go or be. You would have to set goals, failing to do so and relaying on others, might not be of any asset to you. You have to set goals for your tasks that you want to accomplish, and as you move up the career ladder; your focus will be less on doing the tasks and more on setting the direction for your team and providing them with the resources to do their jobs.
Failing to take liability for your performance, action speaks louder than words. Individuals don’t listen to what you say; they listen to what you do. So, you would have to earn respect by your presentation and implementation. That way you will be more respected by your team.
Lastly, one of the biggest letdowns is failing to be noticeable. If you don’t give others the opportunity to get to know, then you can’t hope for people to think of you when promotion time comes around.

  1. To backup Nura's posts I would like to say a few things. Goal setting is essential to achievement and moving up the corporate ladder. Setting goals helps individuals obtain and strive for a higher achievement in the workplace. It can be beneficial when a person dreams or wants a higher job within a company. Even a set of smaller goals can help an individual get where they want to be.
To earn respect in the business world you need to show your coworkers and business partners that you care and will work hard. Performance links directly to motivation and if you really want it. But an important factor her is taking credit for mishaps and striving to improve them in the future.
THe last point tells me that cooperation is also key in the workplace. You don't want to be an invisible worker who is indifferent about work and doing tasks. You want a person who is motivated and cooperative with other people in the business.
