1. Avoid buddy groups - Do not befriend your management. In some ways it might help you in the short run, but will definitely hunt you in the long run. Best thing to do is stay neutral and do not to join any groups or take sides. Maintaining this distance will certainly help you in the long run.
2. Keep your eyes open – Don’t be clueless about your surroundings. The best way to get through office politics is to keep your eyes and ears open for any kind of talk. You have to know everything, from the inside and out, to come out as a winner.
3. Show honesty – Never get involved in office politics, be diplomatic or as I would say, United Nations. If there is high negativity, try to reduce it by spreading positive talk among coworkers.
Office politics and tactics can make or break your acheivement and overall success within a company. If an individual is very cooperative within an business, who keeps his or her's mouth shut when gossip comes into play then the person will be successful. If a person starts to gossip about other coworkers it can get ugly and you could become a liability. You want to try and avoid gossip and disputes within the workplace at all costs! Also avoid talking negetively about your job or company, this will only bring your coworkers down. I disagree with Nura's point about keeping your eyes and ears out. If you are a manager and owner maybe, but I personally believe avoid all negetive topics of discussion!
